This kimono was constructed as a project where we were told to place the play Lysistrata in a different setting, I chose Japan in the time right before World War 2. My thought was that the Geshias would withhold their services from their male customers, which were often men who had a lot of power in goverment and businness.
 
There are multiple layers to the kimono and the pattern on the top layer was hand painted by me.
